09/02/12 Biodiversity Site Progress Report

Bright and sunny days have been a little hard to come by lately but with the inter-monsoon period approaching, perhaps today heralds sunnier days ahead. The sky was a clear blue with nary a cloud in sight. As a light breeze danced around us, we made our way up to the biodiversity site. Even with the sun shining brightly the temperature was a lovely 20 degrees Celcius. The first Nissen Hut was completely covered with zinc roofing and the floor laid with ‘generous dollops’ of cement. The original building was built during the prewar days and some of the metal sheets had corroded through rendering them unusable. The windows were properly placed now as due to a communication failure they had been ‘higher than the roof’ the week before. The 2nd Nissen Hut was half covered and work was in progress. The main structure of the washrooms and toilets were completed with only the piping, fittings and other finishing touches to be done.
We gave packets of home cooked banana leaf rice to the construction workers before we left. With such beautiful weather up in Gunung Brinchang we were actually quite reluctant to leave
