As in previous years, most of our environmental activities for students are in the latter half of the year when schools are less busy with academic work and sports. Next week on the 12 of July 2016, 19 students from SJKC Brinchang will be participating in the above programme. We are also fortunate that for the next 3 months , which coincide with the long summer break of universities, we will have more volunteers .

English Language Programmes in the Community
Besides our school programmes ,a few of our committee members also conduct English Language Programmes in the indigenous villages on the outskirts of town almost every week. They are mainly reading and writing lessons in simple English for children and young adults. As these programmes have been ongoing for a number of months now the turnout is usually very good. But to be effective more volunteers who can speak fluent English are needed.
So if you are visitng Cameron Highlands for a few days or you are back home for your semester break and would like to help out do contact Dr Koh Gim Lam at kohgimlam@gmail.com or Datin Aseema at aseema54@gmail.com

Bio-D centre Visitation with SK Kg Raja
2nd November 2015
There is a saying that goes, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin
Children are our nation’s most precious and priceless treasures. We believe in the importance of educating and involving them in preserving, protecting, and maintaining one of our nation’s finest resources – our beautiful highlands.
Hence on the 2nd of November, several REACH volunteers brought 17 students and 3 teachers from SK Kampung Raja ( Kampung Raja National Primary School) up to REACH’s Biodiversity Centre located midway at Gunung Brinchang at an elevation of 1800 meters above sea level. The steep road up to the centre was challenging but nonetheless satisfying when we finally reached our destination. This climb is not for the faint of heart!
Once we were at the site, we were greeted by clear blue skies, fresh, clean air and a breathtaking view of our home town. Our guide Mr Satya Murthy, started explaining to the students about the many ailments that Cameron Highlands has been experiencing for quite a number of years.
