Bio-D centre Visitation with SK Kg Raja
2nd November 2015
There is a saying that goes, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin
Children are our nation’s most precious and priceless treasures. We believe in the importance of educating and involving them in preserving, protecting, and maintaining one of our nation’s finest resources – our beautiful highlands.
Hence on the 2nd of November, several REACH volunteers brought 17 students and 3 teachers from SK Kampung Raja ( Kampung Raja National Primary School) up to REACH’s Biodiversity Centre located midway at Gunung Brinchang at an elevation of 1800 meters above sea level. The steep road up to the centre was challenging but nonetheless satisfying when we finally reached our destination. This climb is not for the faint of heart!
Once we were at the site, we were greeted by clear blue skies, fresh, clean air and a breathtaking view of our home town. Our guide Mr Satya Murthy, started explaining to the students about the many ailments that Cameron Highlands has been experiencing for quite a number of years.

CHBAR Health Campaign in Tanah Rata
3rd November 2015
Today, smoking is regarded as our nation’s most insidious killer and it is a truth universally acknowledged by smokers and non-smokers alike. However, simply ‘acknowledging’ is not enough as the majority of us often turn a blind eye towards the effects it can so malignantly bring upon. This Is especially true when such a great deal of us are unaware of how dangerous smoking is to our health, whom it affects, at which point is its exposure most severe and what we should do to stop it.
Which is why on the 3rd of November, CHBAR conducted a health campaign for the locals of Tanah Rata at the SK Convent Hall as a means of reducing smoking amongst the people of Tanah Rata. This event was aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking and the exposure of secondhand smoke. It was also intended to remind the people that it harms the environment as well. In retrospect, our solicitous approach during the walkabout had truly paid off when an unexpected number of people (about 50) had turned up for the event.
