Reforestation picks up pace-2nd July 2017 , 9th July 2017 and 16th July 2017

The reforestation activities on the above dates were similar to the earlier ones in June 2017. Except for the 9th of July 2017,more trees were planted this time around.

2nd July 2017-200 trees consisitng of a mixture of Geruk, Merpauh, Rhododendron, Ratsamala trees were planted. In contrast to the earlier visit, the weather was sunny and bright as we set off. On this trip Dr Liau , Geogina and Siva joined too.

Everyone worked enthusiastically and once more we thank all of you..Dr Liau, Siva, Roy, Nitiya, Geogina, Parvathy,Rose, Ramesh, Tom, Aurelein and Pablo for lending a helping hand.

9th July 2017– Trees were not planted on this visit as the undergrowth was not cleared fast enough for more tree planting. We needed the distance between each sapling to be around 4 metres .The ones we planted earlier were too close together. However the construction work progressed well. Zinc sheets were salvaged from the site. Once again we are grateful to our young volunteers who worked hard . Thank you Aurelein. Thank you Tom.Thank you Danial   16th July 2017– On this visit 100 trees were planted .

Danial’s 3 classmates, Rajeswaran, Amizal and Kahfi joined us too. They remarked that it was quite a unique experience not having any communication with the outside world for a few hours.Yes, at our reforestation site there is no telecommunication signals.

Construction work continued.

A section of the area was swampy and had to be drained. That was sheer backbreaking work and our three French volunteers put their muscles to good use! We will miss them when they have to return home!
