CIMB/REACH Community Stream Investigation(CSI) Programme gathers momemtum

The CIMB/REACH CSI project was officially launched on the 21st November 2009 with a cheque presentation of RM 50,000.The aim of this project is to educate the local school community on the health of our rivers and how to monitor it. The first months were spent laying the groundwork such as getting permission from the Education Department , contacting the various schools in Cameron Highlands and preparing educational materials.

We have now reached the second phase of this project which is the Training of the Trainers/Teachers programme (T.O.T). It is hoped that once the teachers are trained, the various schools can conduct the CSI programme for their school children with some guidance and help from REACH.

The T.O.T programme is from 9am to 5 pm. In the morning there will be a briefing on REACH and the CSI programme at the REACH office. Lunch will be from 12.30pm to 2pm. The 2nd half of the programme will be held in the afternoon at the Sg Pauh Camping Site. Participants will be taught how to analyse the stream or river water using simple biological, chemical and physical parameters and give their conclusions. Discussions will be held and tea provided.
