8th November 2015
An English-based environmental awareness programme was conducted by REACH on the 5th of November at SK Ringlet. The event was carried out by REACH committee members, Datin Aseema and Puan Mazlira. It was aimed at students between the ages of 10 to 12 with the intention of inculcating the love for mother nature in them .
The event mainly revolved around Datin Aseema and Puan Mazlira interacting with the students about the environment and everything in relevance, such as its importance, the causes, effects and ways to prevent pollution and others.
Worksheets were given out to the students for them to colour and to test their knowledge on the environment.
A video regarding Cameron Highland’s grandeur was also featured as a reminder that the future of our home is in the hands of the students.
As most of the students present at the event were not too proficient in the English language, we took the opportunity to teach them a few English words .
Besides that, Shen-Ly, our REACH volunteer, did a CHBAR talk for the students. She helped educate the students about smoking and consistently denounced smoking by reminding them of its bad effects towards their health, to their loved ones and to the environment.
We are glad that the event turned out to be a success and duly hope that more activities like these will encourage the young generation of our nation to maintain a healthy and environment-conscious mindset.
